This Too Shall Pass
My favorite saying ever is, ‘This too shall pass.’ Those four words have carried me through some of life’s most trying times. And it’s truth. I also love the way India.Arie rephrased it in one of her songs, ‘Even the day after tomorrow will one day be yesterday.’ Also truth.
Just as seeds planted in the Earth go through a maturation and growth process, so do I—so do you. And with that process comes a certain level of discomfort—it’s not easy. It takes discipline and time. It takes sunny days AND rainy days. But through that process our roots begin to extend deeper and one tiny bud at a time, the fruits of our labor and time begin to break through the ground above us. Before we know it, the process has taken its course and we’ve birthed something that was once only a seed.
But the maturation process has to run its full course.
So many times we get stuck when that dream is still a seed, or when that desire you’ve had for so long is trying it’s hardest to burst through the ground, but needs just a little more time to mature.
I challenge us to rest assured that troubles, trials and (insert your issue here) don’t last forever. Everything has a season. Take solace in the fact that what you’re currently experiencing will yield fruitful results if you stick with it and see it through. Abundance is a surety for those willing to endure the sowing process.
